You have an AdWords campaign,You
know the ad rotation settings, which determine how your ads participate in the auction in AdWords.
This short brief is for you if one or more of the campaigns in your AdWords account use the following settings:
- “Optimize for conversions” or
- “Alternate on a regular basis”.
News
Starting September 25, 2017, Adwords will be making three updates to simplify and improve ad rotation:
Only two ad rotation settings will remain available:
- The “Optimize” option will show the ads that are supposed to perform best in your ad group using Google’s machine learning technology.
- The “Rotate indefinitely” option will allow you to show your ads more regularly for an indefinite period of time.
Starting September 25, the “Optimize for conversions” and “Rotate regularly” settings will be grayed out in the AdWords interface.
This update will result in the following changes:
- Campaigns set to “Optimize for clicks,” “Optimize for conversions,” or “Rotate regularly” will use the simple “Optimize” option.
This will not change campaigns with the “Rotate indefinitely” setting. - Campaigns using Smart Bidding will be set to “Optimize” regardless of their ad rotation setting.
Ad rotation settings will be available at the ad group level.
A simple update
No action on your part is required at this time. If you want to continue optimizing your ads for conversions, we recommend using Smart Bidding.
